Wait, it's all the same color!

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 6, 2011, 2:03 PM
I was just looking at my gallery as a whole a second ago, and I realized that it's basically just a ton of blue, orange, and pink. What the hell! Looks like it's time for me to change things up a bit. I think from now on I'll paint flowers and stuff, lots of pastel colors. It'll be like Easter, but all the time.

In all seriousness, though, I really need to step outside my blue-orange box. I also need to tone down the saturation. Why so much colour bruva! Maybe that's part of what people like about my work, but I think it's time to go for a more mature palette, and be really selective about my color.

I don't know, what do you guys think? What about my paintings do you think needs some work and I should focus on more? I'm already working on my color, and definitely anatomy. Lord knows I got enough comments on my Asian chick, rofl.

Hit me with your suggestions!

Also, what have all of you been up to in the new year? Anything fancy?

Take care friendos!

I don't actually mind about your style, it's awesome. However I guess with the colours, it would be interesting to see what your pictures would look like with different shades of colour or a broader spectrum of colours compared to what you usually use.

What I most definitely noticed about my gallery was that a majority of my gallery is coloured line art and that I use mainly use bright or a jewel palette in those pictures to give it a fun or pleasant atmosphere to the picture. Although I sometimes use a different palette depending on the line art just to give myself a bit of a challenge and to dabble in different shades for the fun of it.

Besides that, lately I've been trying to do my own line art and pictures to add more of my own stuff to my gallery so it's a bit of an even ratio of coloured work and my own stuff.

I guess it's a matter of letting go, and not worrying about something looking bad and just seeing what happens sometimes.

Yeah, I totally agree with you.

Sorry for the late reply.

If you think it's time for a change of style, that's fine. Me myself, I'd like to see some darker pieces from you as well though.

Darker in theme, or actual color and tone?

Color and tone. I mean, iit depends on if you're doing a job for a customer or a personal work anyway. :P

Lol, I noticed that with my traditional drawings awhile back. They were all basically the same tone except for a select few so on my most recent one I tried to make it as dark as possible haha.

But anyways, I think I'm with everyone else here who thinks you're art is amazing. I personally think you don't need to change anything but change is good. Artists should be able to experiment with different styles and colors whenever they want. Besides, it's fun to change it up a bit :).

Your work is awesome!

Have you tried doing that colour scheme challenge that's been around for a while? Might help you step out of your colour scheme boundaries.

Granted, there's a lot of blue on those, but you can always change the palettes.

Yeah, some other people mentioned it, not a bad idea.
