Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

Hayling short film, looking for help!

Hey guys, I wanted to ask around and see if any of you might be able to give me a hand with something in the near future. Let me explain...

I'm looking to do a short teaser film/trailer for my personal project Hayling, as a cool way to introduce you guys to the project, and as something where I can learn some compositing and visual FX skills, primarily in Adobe After Effects. I've been going through tutorials to try and get a feel for it.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there with decent experience in After Effects and compositing, and maybe sound design too. I plan to do most of it myself, but I'm looking for experienced people who might be able to lend a hand if I hit some snags or have some questions.

Most of it will be animated still imagery, but I might shoot some live action elements to key in later, not sure yet.

So, if you know anything about After Effects or compositing, or perhaps know of some good places to find tutorials, definitely let me know. Thanks guys!

P.S. Thank you all so much for the responses on my last journal, truly means a lot to me. You guys are the best.

I know nothing about after effects, but i do know some good tricks to morph peoples voices pretty well~ make them sound like they are talking through some sort of helmet thing or whatever

Dont know if you've found people or not because i'm not going to read through 96 comments lol.

1st off, VC. Avoid like the plague as any experienced AE user will tell you! The easily recognizable flashy yet generic effects pollute youtube to no end. It's an easy place for n00bs to get stuck. If you need compositing help, I've been using AE for about 6 years (back in v5.5), so yeah my contact info should be on my page, because i dont hang around DA too much these days.

I'm big into animation and know a few tricks and whatnot, but theres a whole lot of people who are a hellovalot better at it than me here... moral support?
"go getem" and "you can do it" all that clichéd junk.

Great progress though, you definitely seem to have the hang of compositing, I always get intimidated by the amount of layers you end up creating for simple actions in AE

I'm pretty good with editing and laying, I've been working on something with my friends and hopefully have it up soon. I can do sound design as well, I am good at keying events and making them work like they are supposed to. I've been learning how to use AE and the VideoCopilot plugins as well. I've been using another video editing program though, so if you need some help just let me know.

Sorry for a second comment, but I just noticed you mentioned live-action stuff. Apart from special effects, my friend is quite handy with a camera. And considering both you and him are quite close to each other he could help you out better if needed.

I really wish I had some sample work to show you, but I honestly can't find his website and still haven't been able to contact him yet. I'll let him know you're interested, but it's your final call in the end.

I was anticipating some 3D work... I do know AE, but honestly I'm not a big fan of it. Toxic is my compositor of choice, so if you want I can use that to do some work. If you want some AE help, I can provide what I know if you want via live stream or chat; although granted I'm not a professional compositor by any means. I can get stuff in, blend it together, key it, animate stuff, and render it out, probably what you need.
