Essential books for the artist, and my blog!

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 5, 2011, 4:38 PM
Hey guys, I get A LOT of people asking me what books they should buy to help them with their work, so I figured I'd take the time to make that list available to everyone. I have an absolute TON of art books, 60+ at my last count, and this list breaks down my art instruction books into a core group that I find essential.

It also gives me an opportunity to re-introduce my blog, which is where I have the list posted. In addition to the list, I have a bunch of other stuff on there already that I've never posted on deviantART, including sketches, videos, and WIPs, so please check it out and follow it if you want!

Check out the blog here, or go directly to the book list by clicking here.

Thanks, and take care!

Awesome. I had an Amazon gift card and just spent it on Color and Light. I was pondering it for a while but this journal just confirmed it! Thanks.

I actually got both the' color and light' and the 'imaginative realism' books today from amazon

from what i've seen in both so far is that Gurney brings up a few ides i haven't even considered

and that's just by glancing through them

Yess, when I saw the title of this journal, "Color and Light" was the first to come to mind! Glad to see it on your list- I got it a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely love it! It's hard to find useful, applicable information on the subject, and the author did a great job of filling the gap. I'll have to check out some of these other books, as well!
