Started out as a texture practice piece and evolved into a painting of one of my most anticipated games, Bioshock. This guy is called a Big Daddy, and he protects the Little Sister seen here. If you're curious to how their relationship actually works, you can see videos all over the net.

Probably about 15 to 20 hours of real work into it, maybe another 5 on top of that of mindless detailing.
Edit: I seriously revamped the color scheme and detail one last time. In this version, there's a better source of light, some background shadow, water falling, caustics, and better overall atmosphere. It's a good deal different from the first version, which can be seen at the end of the process animation, link above.
