This was my final project for figure illustration. I wanted to give a sense of discovery as well as maybe even desperation. This can be viewed a ton of different ways, which was the intention.
It might be a little dark from the picture, but there are two men in the shadow by the creature who is indeed holding something out to them
Thanks bud Just practice, that's the only way to get anywhere. Carry a pencil and sketchbook at all times, so when you find yourself bored, you've got something to do. I'm never without at least a couple pencils and something to draw on or in.
same for me >.>
i think some people are naturally better at doing some things that others. *look at my gf and friends being good at math, and me totaly failing math tests*
but i assume you have drawn for a long time. i started more or less 3 years ago, and that i think it has something to do with my averageness
Makes sense dude. People who have been drawing from a young age tend to be better, but it doesn't mean that you wouldn't be able to surpass someone like me if you put your mind to it, it would just take a lot of hard work and a good long while.
you speak the truth, if you have time to practice and lots of will, anybody can be good.
i'd take me a least a year to reach your amazing level, if i stopped having a life (1 year, drawing 13 hours on 24 minimum, evryday)
brilliantly done!i can see a lot of work has gone into it,every square centimeter of the drawing!it ticks all the boxes, awsome texture,lighting,layout,content,detail..no doubt your face melting equipment has had new dials fitted that go up to eleven!!
Haha, dials to eleven, that really got me Thanks dude. The piece I should be uploading tomorrow is even crazier with detail. I actually like it better than this one. Less story, but more epic.
Beautiful job on te shading. Glad to see it's now an indoor cave scene whether then the outdoor we were expecting.
Great choice of useing a single lamp as the light source. Really adds to the image. Like that you added minor lighting to the distant soldiers as well. It's as if the light is reflecting off the alien onto them.
Lik the little robot and the fact that there are no guns visable.
Thanks for all the compliments dude! Yeah, the piece kind of evolved as I went with it, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
The piece I should be uploading tomorrow is my last piece for my design class. It's so wicked, I can't even begin to explain. It just saddens me because it's graphite and as we all know, traditional art gets 417% less favorites than digital stuff, at least with the people I associate with here. Crazy too, because if this piece were digital, you bet your ass it'd get them left and right. You'll understand when you see it. Rant over.

Oh and Congrats on the GPA!

Digital is cleaner and most non-artist feel digital is hardr when it's not.
